Jaquet Droz has unveiled its brand new, Bird Repeater, in homage to its founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz.
Developed over two year by in-house craftsmen the brand has said the new timepiece “pushes back the boundaries of haute horlogerie”.
The dial is incredibly well-detailed: the base dial is mother of pearl, which is hand-engraved and painted. The birds and nest are also hand-engraved and painted.
When the minute repeater is activated, the true beauty of this timepiece is displayed as we see movement in the waterfall as well as a mother bird feeding a chick that hatches from an egg.
The case measures 47 mm in diameter and 18.4 mm in height. Just 16 pieces will be made – 8 in 18-karat gold and while the remaining 8 will be set with diamonds.
Jaquet Droz’s Bird Repeater will be on show at Baselworld 2013 and is set to be priced close to half a million Swiss francs.
